Tips From The Trenches
There’s no greater wisdom gained than by reading God’s Word. However, the next best thing is gaining wisdom from seasoned servants. We asked several Colorado Women Ministry Leaders for their top tip on leadership and here’s what they said:
“Send cards out to the women of the church to let them know that someone is thinking of them." Kaye Simon, Lochwood Christian Fellowship in Lakewood
“Get a great team of volunteers of varied ages and talents and PRAY about everything.” Marcy Stoddard, Mississippi Avenue, Aurora
“Get your job description in writing.” Jenny E. Schappaugh, Trinity Baptist Church
“Divide up the ministry and then look for passionate women to lead the different areas.” Ellen Goad, Vanguard Baptist in Colorado Springs
“I have found thank you notes that have been hand written and mailed through snail mail to be so helpful. Women these days need to receive something besides bills and they need to be thanked with personal words.” Dee Byram, Calvary Baptist in Craig
“Don't forget to take the time to renew and refresh yourself.” Dory Eddy, Mesa View Bible Church, Mesa
“Pray, Pray, Pray.” Brenda Bunch, Bookcliff Baptist in Grand Junction
“Plan NOW to replace yourself – pour into others so that when the Lord leads you elsewhere, there will be a smooth transition of leadership.” Jacque Johnson, North Metro Church in Thornton
“We are finding that women are responding very well to small groups meeting at various times that focus on common interests. We have a book club, bunko group, knitting group, craft group and "tea time" group. Women have a wonderful time forming meaningful friendships that spill over into other areas of church life.” Barb Reynolds, First Baptist Church in Black Forest
