Need Help With Prayer?

Prayer prepares the ground for the seed of the Gospel and maintains dependence on God. “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

In an effort to fulfill our vision and live our core values, the Prayer and Evangelism Team seeks to lead Colorado Baptists to maintain an absolute dependency on God through prayer, provide intercessory prayer support, training, and resources so that we will penetrate lostness under the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the certainty of God’s will, leading and presence, and the humility of needing Him in all we do.

The Team offers conferencing, consulting, and workshops on developing a stronger prayer ministry within your ministry setting. Some common workshops include: Read more

Pray For Your Pastor

ShareThisPraying for Pastors

By Barb Schutt

It is my practice to pray for pastors every Sunday morning. I have prayed for pastors in the classis where I have lived and served for many years–I’ve tried to keep a list of churches and pastors in my prayer journal. Most of the time, I pray Scripture over and into them as they prepare to lead worship, preach, etc. Also, it is a blessing to be on prayer teams for several pastors, church planters, and others. This is a passion of mine, and is what got me into the HOPE team in the first place! Read more

Into the World of Wiccan

ShareThis

Wicca, modern-day witchcraft, appears to be shrouded in secrecy. Its practitioners are imagined to be gathering at night, clothed in black, performing magic and casting spells. Is that what it’s really like?

Michele Adcock, a Mission Service Corps worker with the Colorado Baptists Church Enrichment and Evangelism Team, had a chance to witness Wicca first hand.   As part of a class for her degree in community counseling, Adcock was required to become immersed in a culture with which she was unfamiliar. After much prayer and soul-searching, she chose Wicca. “I am interested in the fields of trauma, abuse and grief. Within the Wicca community, there is a high rate of traumatic events that have left scars on people emotionally.”

Praying with the Military, an Unreached People Group

Think of the military as an unreached people group, with all the distinctive characteristics of a tribe … their own customs & traditions, dialect, “native dress”, type of work, and expectations.   It’s easy to be misunderstood, to be isolated from the civilian community around them.  (Remember that their families are also part of the military community, and try to imagine what it’s like for the Reserves and National Guard, part-time military who live in both worlds in between deployments.)

While most of Colorado lives a fairly normal life, for many military these days there is no “normal”.  If they’re not deployed, they’re recovering and trying to re-integrate with family after a deployment or preparing for the next one.  Think of the stress!  Read more

God Always Provides a Way

Occasionally you will see a comedy segment where one person will ask another to do something and the response is “No Way”. Immediately the first person will respond with “Way”, meaning that there is a way to get the job done, and this conversation will continue for a period of time.

Emmanuel Baptist in Meeker has seen God say "Way” over and over in the construction of our parsonage.   Read more

Creating a Prayer Experience

ShareThis

Prayer is a personal connection to God. Think of all the ways we can talk to God through prayer: standing, kneeling, walking, pacing, sitting, eyes closed, eyes opened, hands folded or hands stretched to the sky. There is no wrong way as long as you are whole-hearted seeking to worship, speak and listen to the Lord.

A unique way to create a prayer experience is setting up stations for people to visit. Each station can be designed with a simple direction and the tools needed. Here’s a few simple tips: Read more
