Where Do We Find Our Righteousness?

“Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”  (Romans 10:1-4 ESV)

Last week two occurrences in my daily routine led to a profound spiritual reminder of the gift of my righteousness – being found right before a holy God.  The first occurred as I enjoyed a conversation with one of my neighbors.  This neighbor is a practicing Catholic.  We’ve had several conversations about the differences between Catholics and Baptists.  I’ve talked about our Protestant belief in the priesthood of the believer (no need for a priest to enter the Trinity’s presence).  We’ve discussed Mariology (the Catholic belief in the sinlessness of Mary the mother of Jesus) and the ability of the saints to intercede for us.  And so forth.
