Dear Colorado Baptist Family,

We want to update you on our 2020 Annual Meeting. The Executive Board of the Colorado Baptist General Convention has unanimously voted to cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting for reasons pertaining to COVID-19. Though we very much would like to be together, the Executive Board believes it is wise and best to cancel for a few reasons: 1) We want to prioritize safety. There are notable health risks and the spread of the coronavirus could cause some to fall critically ill; 2) According to local county health guidelines there are limitations on how many people can meet at once in one location, which would not allow every church to send messengers as representatives; 3) This limitation would also hinder our ability to conduct the business of the Convention.

This decision has not been made lightly and we appreciate your understanding in these difficult days. According to our Constitution and Bylaws, the Executive Board will continue in leadership and make decisions for the Convention including the approval of the 2021 budgets. The Convention officers, as well as members of the Executive Board and Committees, will continue in their service until next year’s Annual Meeting.

Though we are not meeting, we want to continue to tell the story of what God is doing throughout Colorado. We will be sending out videos of stories and reports to encourage you in all that is taking place in our churches. Our Convention remains in great hands with our Executive Board and Convention Staff.

Mark your calendars now for the 2021 Annual Meeting where we can gather together again – October 11-12, 2021 in Fort Collins.

We are praying for you and your church during these challenging times. If you have questions please contact us. And as always, if you need anything, please let us know how we can serve you.

Nathan Lorick
